Definition 6 Chief Executive Officer.

Martin Kogon

Served as Director since February 2000. Kogon, who earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of Business, has played an integral part in the success of Definition 6. Today, Kogon continues to focus his energy on furthering Definition 6’s reach, leading fundraising efforts and special projects to help strengthen the company’s goals and client base. Michael looks to his father to provide smart business advice for good reason: Kogon has owned and managed three other Atlanta-based businesses throughout his impressive career: National Dynamics, Management Ventures and Central Metals Recycling. Kogon served as Central Metals Recycling’s chairman for 11 years, resigning only after Recycling Industries’ 1997 acquisition of the company. From 1983 to 1986, he also served as Management Ventures’ managing partner, running a venture capital fund focused on high-technology companies. Kogon founded National Dynamics, which developed computer software and services, in 1970. He served as president until 1983, when CIGNA finally purchased the company. Kogon also spent three years working with IBM as a systems engineer following his service in the United States Army Signal Corps. Kogon received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1962.

Directly following his undergraduate studies, the Atlanta native joined The Home Depot team as a financial analyst, where he managed financial projects and created budgets for over 200 business units. He left his position a little over three years later to pursue his Masters at The University of Georgia, graduating in 1996. After graduating, Shenk served as executive vice president and CFO for Gamson Metal Industries, a demolition company with a specialty in maximizing scrap value from demolition projects. Overseeing the company’s operations and finances, he helped double the company’s business during his three years there. After Gamson Metal Industries merged with a larger competitor, Michael joined Definition 6 as Chief Financial Officer, a position that he held through the summer of 2005.
