ROBBY BALL
Director of Networking

Robby Ball is the Director of Networking, and Data Centers for
Definition 6. The networking group deals primarily with the support
of technology systems for the company. This includes internal
infrastructure, dedicated and premium web servers, and share web
server farms. Also this team designs, develops, maintains and
manages many other computer networks in our own collocation
facility, other collocation facilities, and other locations of our
customers' choosing. The programming group utilizes full time, part
time, contract and off-shore developers in an optimum way to
minimize costs and maintain value as we develop anything from
custom applications and websites to deploying or upgrading
Microsoft solutions. Using best practices defined by Microsoft and
perfected by many years of experience, these programming and
development departments allow our customers to take their visions
and dreams and turn them into realities, which we can help support,
or, if they wish, support for them.
Robby's training and experience started with playing baseball,
basketball, running cross country in high school, to attending
college at GA Tech, then GA State, acquiring a BS degree in
Computer Science. This was followed by working in a bank, then
running a night club, to running the largest online Bulletin Board
system, BBS, in the Southeastern US in the early 1990's.
In the mid 1990's, Robby helped migrate online content from
individual dial-in computers to the now common World Wide Web. In
1994, he supported the infrastructure which allowed for the
organization of beginner and intermediate Internet User Groups
which enabled many people to create their very first web sites.
From there, Robby spent 4 years working for The Weather Channel's
Next Generation division creating alternative web access devises,
like WebTV, Palm, Wireless, Weather to Your Desktop and fax
prototype technologies, many of which are still used today.
Since February 2000, Robby has spent his time at Definition 6,
first running and perfecting the networking department and hosting
and managed services offerings. Most recently his role has expanded
to include building our development team which provides the tools
and websites that live on the technologies and platform the other
departments build and maintain.
