Protecting Students Online

HARRISBURG, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CyberPatrol, LLC, a leading provider of parental controls and web filtering technologies, announced today the implementation of SiteSURV 3.5 managed service at The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. The implementation was managed and deployed by Definition 6, one of the Southeast's leading managed service providers and IT Strategy organizations. SiteSURV web filtering will be used to secure the computer systems at The Ron Clark Academy and to protect the students, teachers, and administrators from internet threats.

The Ron Clark Academy is a private, non-profit middle school in Southeast Atlanta known for innovative methods, enforcement of conduct that respects the student and others, and high standardized test scores.

"A cornerstone of The Ron Clark Academy is a commitment to high personal standards," said Ron Clark, Founder of The Ron Clark Academy. "Achieving these standards can be a challenge, especially on the Internet, where a number of inappropriate activities and images are both considered normal and readily available. CyberPatrol SiteSURV is an important tool in teaching our students behavior that respects themselves and others, and protects them from the very real risks of today's online environment."

"Like others, we are very impressed with both the academics and values of The Ron Clark Academy, and its contribution to the new ideas and approaches to revolutionize the nation's educational system," said Paul Hernacki, CTO of Definition 6 and volunteer IT director at The Ron Clark Academy. We are thrilled to be implementing CyberPatrols SiteSURV web filtering solution and we believe it will further their goals and create an even safer learning environment.

CyberPatrol SiteSURV 3.5 provides customizable filtering via an easy to use web control panel. The SiteSURV Control Panel provides all the tools and information necessary for schools, libraries and business owners to simply manage their SiteSURV account including editing or changing filtering profiles whenever they choose, to suit their particular needs.

SiteSURV uses 44 categories of web sites, including 8 of which are always blocked as part of a default profile setting. SiteSURV 3.5 allows business owners to edit this default profile, as well as giving them the ability to edit or delete additional profiles from a pull down menu of 36 additional categories of web sites. Categories always blocked by SiteSURV are; Adult, Alcohol and Tobacco, Error or Blank, Gambling, Hacking and Warez, Illegal Activities, Parked Domains.

Selectable categories include sites such as chat, blogs, auctions, dating personals, download media, games, social networks, and anonymizers that attempt to bypass Internet filters or provide information about how to do so.

"The installation of SiteSURV 3.5 at The Ron Clark Academy demonstrates the advantages of an 'in the cloud' security solution in a school environment," said John Sancin, president and COO of CyberPatrol. "SiteSURV is easy to use, inexpensive to purchase and maintain and offers the customizable web filtering necessary in a dynamic academic setting. SiteSURV is an ideal filtering solution for schools seeking effective student protection and regulatory compliance."
