UniPro Foodservice, Inc.

Company Overview:

    UniPro is a large food service distribution company supplying food to other large distributors. UniPro is a Coop, and their customers are members. End of year profits are split among the members creating incentive to keep costs down. The majority of the marketing efforts target the members, although they are beginning to focus on the end-users (operators of the restaurants, catering halls, schools, etc., who buy from the UniPro members).
    Their Tag Line is "Unified Professionals in Distribution."

Challenges:

  • The website did not reflect the professional image the company wanted to portray.
  • Information on the site was outdated.
  • Due to lack of valuable information and poor information architecture, the Extranet was not being utilized.
  • Lack of security – access to the Extranet consisted of only one username and password.

Implications:

  • Poor site traffic due to lack of valuable, current information available and poor information architecture.
  • Lack of private, member information due to lack of Extranet security.

Solutions:

  • Definition 6 created a professional, public-facing website that Enhances the UniPro brand and Provides helpful information to Members.
  • Website provides information for Operators (end-users) including a list of Members.
  • Definition 6 created Content Maintenance Tools that allows UniPro to keep the site up-to-date and relevant.
  • Created a new Extranet which has password administration for multiple users and Identifies users as Member, Supplier, or Employee and displays only information that is pertinent to that audience.
