Williams Brothers is one of the country’s largest providers of lumber to professional, residential, and commercial builders.
The Intranet was built to allow the sales staff to truly work remotely.
The Intranet connects to the in-house sales software program providing access to invoice history, pricing, sales reports and a sales quoting tool. The administration tool allows the IT department to work with user accounts and view usage statistics.
Additionally, the Extranet allows the customer to access invoice history, pricing information and to generate quotes. The Sales staff is notified automatically of the customer’s activity to allow for quick follow-ups.
The administration tool allows the management of the customer accounts and their usage statistics. Both applications were completely redesigned and rewritten to satisfy the ever growing needs of both the internal sales force and external client base.
Challenges:
- Sales force and client base non-technically savvy.
- Communication break-downs among clients and remote sales force.
- The look and feel of both the Intranet and Extranets were outdated.
Implications:
- Communication problems could result in lost revenue and delays in job site development for Williams Brothers.
- Revenues were low.
