Press Conference with Former Hall of Famer Rod Carew

Last December, Hall of Famer and American Heart Association advocate Rod Carew received a life-saving heart and kidney transplant. After finding out that the organs were donated by Konrad Reuland, a former NFL tight end who died of a brain aneurysm, Rod, the AHA and the Reuland family came together for a special press conference to share their remarkable story and promote organ donation.

On only a few days’ notice, DEFINITION 6 pulled together staging for the event at Encino Little League Baseball Park in California. In tandem with the AHA, we invited national media and local Los Angeles TV, radio and print journalists to attend and ask questions to Rod and the Reuland family. We also streamed the entire event on Facebook Live and had a national conference line set up for journalists around the country who wanted to participate.

The event was covered by CNN, FOX News, TODAY and Los Angeles TV stations KABC, KCBS, KNBC, KTTV and KTLA. It received national TV coverage by NBC Nightly News, CNN International and MLB Network. The Facebook live stream reached over 78K viewers. It was also covered by the top three radio stations in Los Angeles; by local TV broadcasts on top stations in Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Denver, Sacramento and San Diego; and by numerous print and online publications.
