The Masters Tournament is one of the most iconic sporting events of any year, but in 2020, things were a little different. Due to a global pandemic, Augusta National would fall silent with no patrons to add to the excitement.
But, instead of trying to work around the absence of fans, CBS Sports leaned into it. Using professional golfer Kevin Hall, deaf since childhood, they highlighted the fact that this year’s tournament would be played in near silence. For Hall, this year’s Masters was nothing out of the ordinary, but the moments and magic of Augusta are unlike any other event, no matter how they sound.
